What is Halftone Dot Art?

Halftone is an image rendering technique that simulates continuous-tone imagery through the use of dots, varying either in size or in spacing. This creates a binary or limited color visual system. Popularized by pop-art movements and classic comic books, halftone designs translate continuous gradients of color or light into distinct arrays of circles.

How the Halftone Converter Works

Our client-side tool reads the relative color value of each pixel block. The lighter or darker the region, the smaller or larger the circle drawn in that coordinate. You can adjust the parameters to fit high-contrast templates, color profiles, or specific print-ready layout rules.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Drag/drop your file into the image upload component or browse locally.
  2. Use the Dot Spacing slider to change the size and density of the circles. Smaller sizes yield more detail but take slightly longer to process.
  3. Slide the Contrast bar to adjust the dynamic range between small and large dots.
  4. Select custom colors for the dots (Foregound) and background canvas.
  5. Save your work instantly by clicking the Download PNG button.
